AgentsHow to
Let the agent do a job of several steps
Ask the agent for the whole job when it takes several changes on several pages, like a field and the template that carries it. The agent writes the job down as a checklist, and you say yes to it once.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Who can
- Anyone, from any agent’s chat. Whichever agent sits beside the page you’re on can also change your checklist later. Each step runs as you, so the checklist can only do what you may do.
- One at a time
- You have one checklist at a time. A second one waits until the first ends or you stop it. The agent checks what exists first and leaves it out of the job. If only one change is left, you get a card for it in the chat instead, and one press makes it.
- The example
- A product manager wants each customer question to say which team answers it. That takes a new field, Team, and a change to the template customer questions follow. If your checklist already waits on you, go straight to Take its steps.
Ask for the job
Section titled “Ask for the job”-
Open the page the job is about, with its agent beside it. For a field and the template that carries it, that’s Templates. In the menu, click the chevron beside Workspace to unfold it, then click Templates. The personas agent is beside the list.
Open Templates (opens Emargen in a new tab) -
Ask for the whole job in your words, naming the template and the new field. For example: “Add a Team field with Customer success, Support, Security and Product, and show it on the cards of customer questions.”
-
The agent answers with one card. It has the job’s title, how many steps it has, and every step, numbered. For the example, there are two steps. One creates the field Team, and one saves the template with Team on it. Nothing has changed yet. If the agent can’t tell something from your message, it asks first in the chat. Answer it, and the card comes with its next answer.
-
On the card, choose how it runs. Guided waits for your Next at every step. Autonomous runs on its own. It stops when a step fails or waits for you, like a deletion or anything that leaves Emargen. The card starts on the pace you set in Your profile, under Agent pace.
-
Press Start, or Cancel to drop the job with nothing changed. Once started, the checklist opens in the right rail, and the card says it’s running in the rail, with how many steps are done. If another checklist of yours is under way, the card says this one starts when the other ends or is stopped.
Take its steps
Section titled “Take its steps”The checklist sits in the right rail of every page you open. At its top, use Mode to switch between Guided and Autonomous at any time. Under it come the steps, each with what it does, and a tick on each one that’s done. Press Stop to leave the checklist where it is, and what’s done stays done.
-
For a step that only needs your go-ahead, press Next in the rail. In the example, the first step makes the field Team, and then it has a tick.
-
A step that fills a page shows what it will change, line by line, with the agent’s reason. It has Show it on the page instead of Next. Click Show it on the page. The template opens, and the agent fills it in part by part. Each part it filled is ringed and marked Drafted, under a dark box with the agent’s reason and Next.
If nothing happens, the agent may still be answering in the chat beside the page, or another change may be playing there. The step plays once that’s done.
-
Press Next in the dark box at each part. The last Next saves the step. While it saves, the rail says Running, with only Stop. Then the template’s page opens with Team on it.
If the rail stays on Running, wait a little. If it still doesn’t move, press Stop, then Continue. The step waits for you again, and its change plays on the page by itself, though the box may show the parts again. Press Next again.
What you get
Section titled “What you get”- The field Team, with its four values, and the template carrying it on cards. Every customer question now has Team, and shows it on its card once someone, or the agent, fills it in.
- The rail says Done and lists what the checklist made under Made, each linking to its page. Close takes the checklist out of the rail.
Closing the tab doesn’t stop a checklist. An Autonomous one goes on until a step waits for you, and that step keeps waiting. It shows in the rail on every page, and in Decisions while it waits. If you collapse it with Collapse the checklist, it opens again by itself when a step waits for you.
If a step is refused, the run stops there, shows the page’s own message, and keeps what’s done. Choose Change it with the agent to ask the agent beside the page for a changed checklist. Once you start it, it carries on from the first step not done. After Stop, Continue carries on and End finishes there.
